Botany – The Boxer Rebellion
2 Mar
Botany… perfection for the science teacher
A sound that took a few listens to really sink its teeth into me, but alas it did. Electronic tends to take awhile for me. It lacks the rawness of guitar strumming and drumming that conjure images of sweat and tears rolling down to the stage. Electronic makes you think, less of a distraction than harder sounds, I tend to judge it with more scrutiny as it comes flowing with ease out of an apple symbol.
This boy has had his hand in a few things before and it’s obvious in the mix of sound, he’s got something going. Whatever it is, I like it.
To shift serious gears to a band that would probably punch a guy like Spencer Stephenson (Botany) in the face… The Boxer Rebellion (the name doesn’t help the assumed bad-assery either). These boys have a decent start to what could be a career something akin to Snow Patrol (not that they sound like them AT ALL) just that mild success that comes with an indie crossover… I could definitely see it with them. They just broke into the TV world on Letterman a month ago and their new album is being met with a lot of high marks. So in other words, listen to them before they’re not cool anymore

this is botany and I will fight all of the members of that band
I love that this is probably the first direct communication from a band on my blog EVER and it’s to fight. You are both together at sxsw now… if you’d like I will find a middle school in the area and you can fight by their flagpole. I would pay ridiculous monies to see that
Kick some serious (MUSICAL) ass this week, sir!
Also… I thought I was the only loser who still held on to their AOL account. Props to you sir, props.
