The Cave Singers – Chapel Club
14 Mar
Kind of a mixed bag today as we blend the hard indie rock stylings of The Cave Singers (ex- Pretty Girls Make Graves (yum)) to the airy, light pop of London-based Chapel Club.
If I could somehow get in a state of rage followed by a blissful half-black-out, both these bands would have a place in my day. Unfortunately it seems I a need a band like Enya or something as the stress of trying to orchestrate a science fair for students with learning disabilities makes my head asplode (yes, ASPLODE… it’s worse than exploding).
The Cave Singers have a message deeper than one that pop can offer and they had that same kind of message when they were a part of Pretty Girls Make Graves. I loved them then and I love them now. Changing names, switching players… it all does nothing if at the root of it all, there is raw talent. They has that.
Chapel Club make me long for the days of listening to The Cure’s “Disintegration”. I realize they sound nothing alike… it seems like they just popped out of the same world. It makes me want some Bowie and The Smiths. I want to be little and have the same taste in music as I have now… I would have discovered some awesome shit. Until they invent that … thing… I will suffice to be a little out of place and listen to music like Chapel Club that are delightfully out of place too. Yay!
Also, yay for ribbon dancing… and boo for Mondays. Yucks.
