Admiral Fallow. Alessi’s Ark.

Ok… so it’s becoming a tad creepy how easy it is for me to fall in love with a band based on their country/accent of origin. If I find one more Scottish band that sounds this fantastical, I might just need to move there.
They keep refusing to disappoint. This band has that same quality that was mentioned in my post on Monday regarding Seryn. Those points in a song where you wish there was a place on stage for you to sing along with all of them. Ok, maybe more like a place in the far back corner of the room… but still, the impulse to sing this out loud is hard to control… even in a classroom full of high school kids that you are subjecting it to.
It’s uplifting without being too poppy, it’s enthusiastic while remaining sincere. It’s musical yum.
Enjoy the loveliness that is, Admiral Fallow.
Next up, Alessi’s Ark. Another band from across the pond, this barely pubescent (ok, she’s 20, whatever) songstress makes melodies so light and airy that they are enjoyable even by the most cranky of critics.
She’s worked with the esteemed Mike Mogis and it shows on the switch from her EP to her first full-length.
The sound definitely has it’s place and it made the A’s as it definitely would make a playlist. I’m not sure that I could set aside a whole car drive worth of her stuff as the female floaty vocals tend to eat away at me after about 15 minutes, but for those who want to imagine floating away on puffy clouds for long amounts of time, this lady is for you.
