Banjolin Song

3 Jan

Today is poop. I do not enjoy returning to work after two weeks of leisure and self indulgence. The weekend was a weird mix of drunken new years debauchery and then farrrr too much self reflection. I hate that. I was all crapped out from two weeks of nothing… which makes NO sense. Vacation is a tricky word. Vacation from work… but alas, not from life and our silly little heads that like to fuck with us when we aren’t sure that we should be having such a great time.

This song was my ride to work and a song that makes me so stupid happy that I want to explode every time I hear it. It’s the banjos. Jesus, how I love banjos.

I wasn’t ever planning on writing about Mumford & Sons. It seems bizarre to me when a band that I think is quite possibly taking over the world… is unknown completely to some people.

I would have considered it a step above most indie rock of its kind… sure, your mom might not know of them but the assumption was, most people who have ever consumed a PBR would. Wrong.

Occasionally friends of mine will write and ask for a list of random bands I have been playing on repeat. I sent a good friend in Houston a list and included Mumford even though I assumed (as he’s also an avid music hunter) that he would not only have heard of, but would also be in love with them.

I was totally shocked when he wrote back expressing how good he thought they were. So in case your are hiding under the proverbial indie “rock”… I give you my favoritest (and off of their very hard to track down, “Lend Me Your Eyes” EP) song.
