Airplanes.

16 Dec

I should be on one of those majestic metal birds soon… but alas, I have decided to spend the holidays at home, with that retarded orange cat I spoke of. Who doesn’t want to sob listening to, “All I Want For Christmas” by Mariah Carey while forcing a cat to “STAY STILL!” in the grips of arm death lock?

Ok, so maybe that’s not YOUR favorite Christmas pastime. Maybe you would rather listen to one of the best bands this year could come up with, maybe while cuddling a handsome man who makes a mean hot cocoa and would like to hear about your childhood for 7 straight hours. Whatever, if that’s your deal, start off the evening of babble with Local Natives, “Airplanes”. Hands down one of my top 5 songs of this year.

This song has a way of taking you on a little boat… the waves go up and down and then slam into explosive drums and almost begging, pleading vocals, “I love it all… so much I call… I want you back” right before it eases your little mind boat back into safe soothing waters. The ride is glorious. Trust me.

Tonight I have to leave it.

There is something disturbing about internet being so in sync with the person on the other side of the screen that the ads start to leave you with a bit of the chills.

This morning I stumbled upon listening to the Shout Out Louds, “Tonight I have to leave it” while staring at a giant Plan B One Step ad on the right side of my Pandora. Put that one together in your brain box for a little while and listen.

The Shout Out Louds are nothing new on the indie rock stage… but they are timeless in their flow and dainty plunking of the keys. I heart them… enough that I would totally not “leave it” and tap one of those sexy Swedish bastards followed by a small dose of friendly Plan B.

Just another day of making my mother proud.
